PCC News - September 2009

The PCC met on 9 September, when the following items were discussed:

Finance: Envelope giving was meeting current parish share, although share is likely to be increased by 4.5% for next year. Gift Aid claims slow to come through. Organ fund would cover cost for installation of new organ in November. Due to wonderful response to appeal, sufficient funds would be available to clear debts by the end of the year, other than repayment of loans of £12500, which it was hoped could be repaid in 12 months. Discussion took place regarding repair of clock, but this was left in abeyance for time being.

Re-ordering: A query had been received via Diocesan Registrar regarding re-siting of pulpit and font. Considerable discussion took place regarding this and the general feeling was that the present siting of font was best, and the pulpit would no longer be appropriate, there being no base. If pulpit was replaced, this would considerably restrict versatility of building. However, the legal situation would be checked before faculties applied for.

Management Groups:

There had been no meetings other than Pastoral and Social to firm up details for Mamma Mia evening.

Eco-church status: We may look at applying for this in the future.

Harvest: Saturday 10 October - shared supper and skittles evening. Sunday 11 Harvest service. Donations in lieu of produce to be shared between Rob and Roz Arnold's CMS project, St. Paul's school sponsored school in Uganda and a school in Chile visited by Anne and Mick on Fair Trade tour. Tins to decorate church, to be used for food parcels.

Christingle Service 13 December to start with Children's workshops followed by service at 5.30 p.m.

Kay Aldersley joined the meeting to explain a little about her role as a facilitator and net worker to increase use of hall and centre. A Workcare Drop-in had taken place which was successful and the co-ordinators were pleased with attendance.
