PCC News - October 2009

The PCC met 14 October, when the following items were discussed:

Finance: At present envelope giving was meeting parish share, but the increase for 2010 would amount to an additional £139 per month. Gift Aid reclaims had been made but these were slow in materialising from the Tax office. £200 had been received for the organ fund, which meant that we now had sufficient funds in this account to pay for the organ. Any additional monies would be transferred to Fabric Fund towards repayment of loans, payment of final bills for reordering, etc. £850 had been paid into Fabric Fund from Mamma Mia evening. As it was 10 years since the clock had been revamped for the Millennium, it was agreed that this should be repaired from the general fund.

Re-ordering: A faculty would be required if the font and pulpit were not to be replaced in the main building as originally envisaged, and forms would be completed in due course. The PCC would look at the siting of the pulpit at their next meeting. Other items had been brought out of storage and put back into use.

Bazaar: 21 November - Draw tickets ordered, poster for stalls on board and PCC would provide Fair Trade hamper.

Management Groups:

Buildings and Finance: Utility costs to be monitored and wear and tear assessed for future rentals of building.

Mission and Outreach: Welcome booklet prepared for new homes in parish. Christingle workshops to be run similar to Good Friday, starting at 3.30 p.m. with service at 5.30 p.m. Open Door cafe on 29 December for soup and rolls. CUF report from Kay Aldersley regarding additional use of Parish Centre.

Pastoral and Social: Music and fireworks 6 November, with Masqueraders providing entertainment, with soup and fireworks to follow. £1 per head plus firework. Murder Mystery event proposed for February - details later. Food parcels being used by Health Visitors and very gratefully received.

Worship and Spirituality: Harvest collection should raise £1500, i.e. £500 for each charity. Advent meals in lieu of meditation services. Quiet day fixed for 6 February, Parish weekend being looked into. Lent course planning 30 January.

Eco-church status: Ann would download forms.
