PCC News - July 2009

The PCC met on July 8th, when the following matters were discussed:-

Finance - A very positive feedback and response to the Churchwardens' appeal regarding finance. It was hoped that with gifts and promises of additional income via Tenner Club, existing loans could be repaid and other loans offered would not need to be taken up. VAT would increase again in January and this should be borne in mind

Organ - The most reasonable quote received was for £12,000. We had around £10,000 in specified organ fund, with a further £1,000 due in Gift Aid refund. A similar organ was in situ at St. Anne's Church, and it may be possible to arrange visit to hear this

Youth Worker - Kim due to start on August 24th and would be with us for Holiday Club. She would take up offer of temporary accommodation while looking for suitable rental

Church Urban Fund Development Worker - A further meeting arranged with Kay Aldersley who was hoping to set up a work related drop-in in September

Worship & Spirituality Group - No update

Mission & Outreach Group - Ford Festival stall booked, list posted for volunteers to man

Pastoral & Social Group - Further thoughts and earlier planning required for next year's Gala. Scavenger Hunt arranged. Mamma Mia evening date changed to September 18th and publicity would be arranged in the hope of attracting outsiders. Food parcel scheme up and running. Skittles evening arranged for October 10th. Harvest Fireworks and Music November 6th. Awaiting feedback from Mission and Outreach Group regarding Bazaar/Advent arrangements

Building & Finance Group - Approaching Diocese re Bishop's Fund in the hope of obtaining additional finance

A short PCC meeting took place on August 2nd regarding organ and it was decided to go ahead and place order, as the organ on loan and the one tested at St. Anne's Church was suitable for our purposes
