The purpose of the group is to help and support those who care at home for those who are sick or disabled. This care for loved ones is usually 24 hours a day for 7 days of the week.

It is not just help and support we give one another, it is also sharing good times and bad, tears and laughter and being at the end of the telephone.

The afternoon also provides an opportunity for relaxation and for having some time for oneself to really unwind and let go for a couple of hours or put the world to rights.

We arrange for speakers to visit us to talk about their work and these have included a Social Services Manager and a representative from the Mary Ann Evans Hospice.

We also like to share food, either a ‘Bring & Share’ lunch or a meal out. We have a raffle each month and once a year we have a ‘Bring & Buy’ sale to finance our activities.

Another important function of our group is to provide a close friendship and support for those members who suddenly find themselves bereaved after years of caring for a loved one.

They remain valued members of the group.
